It’s not about what you see,it’s about what you do not see. This image was taken with my 70 to 200 zoom and it was racked out to 200 at F4. It was taken at probably one of the worst locations possible !!!! There was a major highway right behind the couple. Using an upward angle, I was able to use the tree across the street as an interesting backdrop for this lovely couple.

It’s not about what you see. It is also about what you do not see. A methodical pose with strong diagonal lines. Simplicity and shadows work to tell the story.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Valerie (of course) and among a few other things I am a 100% self-taught budding on-location photographer specializing in natural light portraiture and events.

My photographic style could be described as creative, real-life, candid, and photojournalistic. My interests range from weddings and family portraits to still life and pin-up portraits and I strive to capture the most ordinary objects and the most dynamic personalities.

For every photo session I have two goals, the first is to tell my clients story and the second is to look at every object or person from more than one perspective. Every photo session is a challenge and despite the hours I spend with clients and photos a week I refuse to use the term ‘job’ or ‘career’ when speaking of my photography passion because I never want to lose sight of why I do what I do.

I’ve always considered myself creative but I first picked up a camera for client purposes in April of last year and in May I photographed my first wedding. The newlyweds were such an amazing couple to work with and the photo featured here shows just how fun they are. I love how natural, fun, and unique the photo is. I nearly burst into laughter everytime I look at it!

What is better than one band on a Saturday night? Two bands !!!! I had the pleasure to listen to foreplay on Saturday and I can they you that this band know how to play some solid tunes. Vocally and instrumentally a very talented group of artists.

This is my second time seeing the band and I came prepared with my radio triggers-remote flash and colored gels to add a bit of drama.

I was able to fire the flash though a glass window and was hoping I did not bother the bands focus.

The lead off song was purple haze sooooo why not add some purple gels..Well it is only logical you know.

Kudos to Rockin Joe’s.. The food and cappuccino is always stellar !!!
